star wars: Does Sidious/Palpatine know about Asajj Ventress?
In the new Clone Wars TV show, I have heard that if Sidious ever found out about Ventress there would be “serious consequences” for both Dooku and Ventress. However, in the original Clone Wars micro-series, Dooku actually shows Ventress to and Sidious sends her to fight Anakin. What’s with the inconsistency?
It’s not really an “Inconsistency” … it’s the difference between a “Sith” and a “Dark Jedi”. A “Dark Jedi” is a Jedi who has turned to the Dark side for his own selfish reasons. A “Sith” on the other hand is a member of a eons old order that has as its main goal the destruction of the Jedi Order. It doesn’t sound like that much of a difference between the two but it is. Sidious knew about Asajj from the start because, as you say, Dooku introduced her to Sidious and he sent her on a mission to kill Anakin Skywalker in the micro series == there is an interesting irony that happens with the duel between Asajj & Anakin … where it took place to be more exact … Yavin IV == In the animated show that is running now Sidious knows about Asajj … I can’t remember if they’ve spoken “Hologram to Hologram” yet in the series but I do remember Sidious & Dooku talking about her. In fact I think the “where you heard this line” just popped into my head. It was a short story arc about the capture of Nute Gunray in season 1. Dooku was talking to Sidious, in hologram form, about “rescuing” Gunray or if that couldn’t be done killing him before he could spill the beans on the Confederate war machine. Dooku tells Sidious that he has dispatched Asajj to carry out the mission. Sidious seems to get angry at Dooku in saying that she had failed many times before. Dooku asserted that she “would not fail him this time” and Sidious told him that if she failed it would have “serious consequences for BOTH Dooku and Ventress.” In essence, failure was not an option.
Dooku strung Ventress along telling her that he would take her as his Sith Apprentice if and when she proved that she deserved to be. Of course he never had any intention at all in taking her as an Apprentice … If Dooku had actually taken her as an Sith apprentice then Sidious would not have been happy … I mean he REALLY would have been ticked off … but he knew that Dooku was just stringing her along because he had told him to … Ventress was nothing more than a weapon to be used when need be.
